Piney Woods Gymnastics is hardly a typical gymnastics program. The program is designed for exactly what children need most during these most formative years.Piney Woods Pre-School Gymnastics, gymnastics skills, rhythmic skills, ball handling drills, as well as motor skills are used as tools to teach life-skills and foster healthy learning attitudes. In Piney Woods Pre-School Gymnastics, refinement of gymnastics skills is a secondary goal. Pre-School is the age for child development; skill refinement will come when the children are in school age gymnastics.
Piney Woods After-School Gymnastics, utilizes both Boys and Girls Olympic Apparatus for the childrens learning experiences. Proper warming-up procedures, essential skill building, conditioning for strength, flexibility, and body awareness, as well as motor skills are used as tools to teach life-skills and foster healthy learning attitudes.
In Piney Woods After-School Gymnastics, refinement of gymnastics skills is our primary goal. After-School Gymnastics is the age for building character, self-esteem, confidence, self respect and respect for others, group teamwork, caring for one another, helpfulness and refining social skill development.
FUN is More than meets the Eye! One of the major objectives of Piney Woods Gymnastics is FUN! Of course, this is GREAT with the kids, but parents often fail to realize the importance of fun in a pre-school, or school age learning setting.
Why is F U N so important? Well-adjusted children form an early, and life long subconscious association surrounding the learning situations they face: challenge + risk+ learning = fun!
The value of this association becomes very apparent by considering the opposite: challenge + risk + fear = anxiety! For children with a negative association the pain of possible failure is simply not worth the risk of trying. Is it any wonder why so many children learn to "shadow" themselves from their fear and anxiety by forming an apathetic attitude toward learning such as: "I don't care!" or," I can't, so why should I try?!"
Piney Woods Gymnastics: As Valuable as a College Education! As parents , the most important thing for us to remember is that learning attitudes are formed during the pre-school years, and reinforced during the adolescent's years. There is no second chance in a person's life to form positive learning attitudes. (As many parents find out, you simply cannot turn back the clock to teach learning attitudes to a teenager!)
